About the Academy
Metropolitan Ballet Academy is a nationally recognized school of classical ballet, named by Pointe magazine as “one of seven local studios in America cultivating top talent.”
A MULTIFACETED
DANCE EXPERIENCE
Metropolitan’s curriculum combines professional expertise with an appreciation of the developmental needs of young, aspiring dancers. Building on our strong classical ballet base, Metropolitan’s comprehensive year-round program includes contemporary, modern, theater jazz, and conditioning classes.
Metropolitan students benefit from Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic’s wealth of teaching and performance experience, long relationships with choreographers, master teachers, musicians, and costume and lighting specialists. Learn more about our renowned faculty here.
Our Youngest Movers and Shakers
Take the first step! Our Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet students (ages 3-4, 5-6) start out in developmentally appropriate classes. While flexible and fun, classes are taught by highly trained dance educators who give boys and girls the chance to engage with the world through meaningful and joyful movement: imagination and laughter required!
Performing
Metropolitan’s academy dancers love to perform and have multiple opportunities to do so, including an annual Fall Concert and Spring Showcase. Dozens of young dancers perform roles in Philadelphia Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker at the Academy of Music each December. Our most dedicated students audition for the Pre-Professional Company and have even greater Performance Opportunities, notably the Variations/Collaborations concert in March and as guest artists at Pop Up performances with BalletX.
