Performances

Metropolitan presents a high quality season of performances each year throughout the community. The Family Concert Series, with its strong literary component, fosters an early interest in dance. Variations/Collaborations with Settlement Music School presents an innovative fusion of live art forms. The Spring Showcase celebrates the accomplishments of all of our students, and illustrates the progression of classical study from our youngest dancers through our pre-professional artists.

FAMILY CONCERT SERIES

Featuring five performances each November designed to introduce dance to young audiences, the Family Concert Series provides the opportunity to engage with dance through both popular and timeless children’s literature, as told through a broad range of dance forms and styles that entertain and enrich audience members of all ages. The programs often include collaborations with respected professionals in the field, such as Robin Preiss Glasser, a former professional dancer, renowned children’s book illustrator, best known for her Fancy Nancy series of children’s picture books.

Met’s young dancers are a joy to work with. They’re inquisitive and eager to understand the “why’s” behind the choreography. On stage, their diligence and exuberance add up to a spirited performance.
