Children's Dance Classes
Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet: Growing confidence through dance.
At Metropolitan Ballet, our primary goal is to help young dancers discover the joy of movement. Through thoughtful instruction and a nurturing environment, children learn that dance can be both an art form and a powerful means of expression.
Whether they continue into classical ballet or simply carry the confidence, creativity, and physical awareness they develop in these early classes into other areas of life, our youngest students are taking an important first step: learning to love moving.

Creative Movement
Creative Movement is a playful introduction to the basic principles of dance for ages 3-4. Through music, storytelling, exploration, and creative exercises, students begin developing coordination, spatial awareness, musicality, balance, and flexibility.
At this age, enjoyment and discovery are at the heart of learning. Children are encouraged to express themselves through movement while building the physical and cognitive skills that will support their continued development as young dancers.
Pre-Ballet
In Pre-Ballet, students ages 5-6 take the next step in their dance education, building upon the foundational skills introduced in Creative Movement. Elementary ballet concepts are combined with modern dance, improvisation, and folk dance to create a rich and engaging introduction to formal dance training.
As students grow in ability, the curriculum gradually introduces more complex movement patterns and exercises. They develop musicality, flexibility, and the ability to move with intention and expression - laying an important foundation for the creative, cognitive, and athletic demands of classical ballet.
