It’s always exciting to welcome new boys and girls into the studio for our Creative Movement
classes. Especially exciting this year was the arrival of JJ Schorr, the young daughter of Sarah Mettin, Metropolitan’s Artistic Associate.
Sarah began her dance training with at Metropolitan Ballet Academy at the age of eight. Sarah went on to dance and choreograph at the prestigious SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory and earned her MS in Arts Management from Drexel University. Mettin has created 12 original works for Metropolitan Ballet Company.
After seeing her mom teach and choreograph for Metropolitan, JJ was eager to get in the studio herself! JJ enjoys dancing to the eclectic mix of music and meeting her new buddies in class each week. “I love to dance. It makes me happy,” notes JJ.
Creative movement classes are held on Saturdays at 9:15AM, Tuesdays at 5:30PM, and Thursdays at 4:15PM. Boys and girls ages 3-4 are welcomed into a supportive environment where they engage in meaningful movement activity that prepares them to enjoy studying ballet. Pre-ballet starts for ages 5 and 6.
