We are delighted to announce that Da’Von Doane will join the Metropolitan Ballet Academy faculty for the 2025-2026 season, where he will teach Progressions and Partnering. This exciting appointment follows Mr. Doane’s creation of two original works for the Metropolitan Ballet Company, both of which captivated our audiences with their depth, innovation, and artistry.
Mr. Doane brings a wealth of professional experience as a performing artist, choreographer, and educator. He began his professional dance career with the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH), joining the ensemble in 2008 and later the main company in 2012, coinciding with its highly anticipated rebirth. His powerful presence and refined technique quickly garnered national attention. In 2014, he was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” and later graced the cover of the magazine for DTH’s 50th Anniversary.
Throughout his career with DTH, Mr. Doane performed works by legendary choreographers including George Balanchine, Robert Garland, Geoffrey Holder, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Arthur Mitchell, and Christopher Wheeldon, among many others. His versatility as a guest artist has taken him to stages around the world, including appearances with Austin City Ballet, Ballet Noir, JA Malik/Ballet Boy Productions, Jacob’s Pillow, Tulsa Ballet, Guggenheim Works & Process, Vail International Dance Festival, and the World Dance Gala in Kielce, Poland.
In addition to his performance career, Mr. Doane is an accomplished choreographer. His work has been presented by esteemed organizations and venues such as Bryant Park, Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Periapsis Music and Dance, the CUNY Graduate Center (Composers Now Festival), Symphony Space (Wall to Wall John Coltrane Celebration), and American Repertory Ballet.
Mr. Doane earned his Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2023, further deepening his commitment to dance education and mentorship.
We are honored to welcome Da’Von Doane to our faculty and are confident that our students will grow immensely under his guidance. His artistry, integrity, and expansive experience make him an extraordinary addition to the Metropolitan Ballet community.
