We are deeply honored to be featured in the Summer 2025 edition of Point by Pointe, the flagship newsletter of Dance Data Project® (DDP). As an organization that has long championed equity and opportunity in the arts, Metropolitan Ballet is proud to be recognized by a group whose mission so closely aligns with our own.

For those unfamiliar, Dance Data Project® is doing transformative work within the world of classical ballet and beyond, using data, research, and advocacy to track gender equity across choreography commissions, leadership roles, programming, and funding. Through their reports, rankings, and outreach, they’re shifting the narrative and shining a much-needed spotlight on women who are shaping the future of dance, not just as performers, but as creative and executive leaders.

This latest issue of Point by Pointe centers on the power and presence of female choreographers working within academic and pre-professional settings. It explores how institutions like ours can serve as incubators for bold, original voices, and offers a deeper look into the collaborative process that brings new work to life.

Our recent experience commissioning and working with the extraordinary Nicole von Arx is highlighted in the issue, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Nicole is not only a choreographer of rare vision and originality, she is also a generous, fearless collaborator and a genuine friend. The process of bringing her work to the stage was transformational for our dancers, providing them with the opportunity to inhabit a piece that challenged, inspired, and expanded them as artists.

The newsletter also features illuminating conversations with other creatives and educators who are similarly committed to representation and progress in our field. It’s an issue filled with inspiring perspectives, research findings, and performance highlights that reflect a sector in motion-striving toward inclusion, equity, and artistic excellence.

We are grateful to DDP for including us in this important conversation and for amplifying the voices of so many women who continue to move our field forward.
