This Spring season has been a vibrant and inspiring time for Metropolitan dancers, as we've had the privilege to participate in three powerful outreach performances that deepened our connection to community, culture, and creativity. These performances are more than just opportunities to showcase our work—they are vital moments of exchange, where the art of dance becomes a bridge between people, stories, and shared experiences. Community engagement lies at the heart of our mission. Whether performing in a church, a school auditorium, or alongside fellow artists in a pre-show celebration, we are reminded that the value of our work extends far beyond the stage. These events allow us to meet audiences where they are, invite participation in cultural dialogue, and bring the transformative power of dance into spaces that may not always have access to it. Through these engagements, we not only share our artistry, but we also listen, learn, and grow as a company rooted in connection and collaboration.

BalletX Pre-Show Performance

📍 Philadelphia, PA

📆 Saturday, May 3

Metropolitan Company members took part in BalletX’s pre-show celebration, performing alongside fellow schools and companies from across the Philadelphia area. Sharing the stage in this dynamic, welcoming environment reminded us of the strength and unity of our local dance community. It was a celebration of artistry, youth, and collective passion for the art form.

Spirituality and the Arts Forum at St. Thomas Church

📍 St. Thomas Church, Philadelphia

📆 Sunday, May 4

Sunday brought a more contemplative performance as we participated in the Spirituality and the Arts Forum at St. Thomas Church. Dancing in this sacred space allowed us to explore the intersections of movement and meaning. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a thoughtful gathering, where art became a vessel for reflection and connection.

“Bukovian Lark” with Voloshky School of Ukrainian Dance

📍 Bensalem High School

📆 Sunday, May 18

Metropolitan dancers will join the Voloshky School of Ukrainian Dance for their Annual Spring Concert, performing Bukovian Lark—a spirited folk dance rooted in Ukrainian and Romanian traditions. This piece, full of dynamic steps and joyful rhythms, celebrates freedom, nature, and the enduring pride of cultural heritage. It’s a joy to share this story through movement, and we’re honored to be part of such a meaningful collaboration.
